A man was arrested at the New York-Canadian border in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident on Long Island.

State police say Sylvestro Liotta of Central Islip was arrested Wednesday at a border checkpoint on the Peace Bridge, which connects Buffalo to Fort Erie, Ontario.

Liotta was arrested during a routine identification check while sitting aboard a Trailways bus.

State police investigator Gary Colon told Newsday that border protection agents ran Liotta’s ID information and found he had an outstanding warrant on a vehicular manslaughter charge in Suffolk County.

He was handed over to US Marshals. He’s set to be arraigned in district court in Central Islip.

The fatal accident occurred Feb. 18. In Brentwood. Orlando Marquez of Brentwood was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later.
