MONTAUK, N.Y. — An animal-welfare official says a New York man has been charged with beating and drop-kicking a puppy.
Suffolk County SPCA chief Roy Gross says the beating was captured on video. He says a witness contacted East Hampton town police, who summoned the SPCA.
The 6-month-old boxer pup, named James, had escaped from his yard in Montauk, on Long Island.
Gross says the man, Daniel Vargus, is charged with felony animal cruelty. The name of his attorney was not immediately known.
