CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — Police on Long Island say a drunken driver with a child in his vehicle was involved in a crash that killed a pedestrian.
The accident occurred around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday in Central Islip.
The dead man was not immediately identified.
Suffolk County police say 20-year-old Leonard Hoppie was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated and endangering the welfare of a child. He’s also charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a passenger 15 or younger.
The name of his attorney was not immediately known.
Hoppie and his 10-year-old brother were not injured.
