The Long Island lawyer who killed himself rather than face the consequences of his apparent $16 million Ponzi scheme was “a mini-Madoff” who targeted and “also hurt the Jewish community,” said a lawyer for several victims.
The alleged fraudster, Jay Korn, recruited his victims — at least 52, according to the Nassau County DA — at the waterfront Middle Bay Country Club in Oceanside, where he was once president, at several Jewish charities and his local temple, said attorney Jerome Reisman.
“This is a mini-Madoff,” Reisman said. “This guy also hurt the Jewish community.”
