This is how a life of crime may begin.
Two Long Island girls — ages 12 and 14 — smashed their way into the KB Department Store in New Cassel at 2:35 a.m. Sunday before making off with about $60 worth of merchandise, including a $5 stuffed teddy bear, police said.
Nassau County Detective Vincent Garcia called the girls’ take minimal, but their ages startling.
“It’s highly unusual to have two females aged 12 and 14 — especially at 2:30 in the morning — committing burglary,” he said.
The kids, not ID’d because of their ages, will be charged as minors with criminal mischief and third-degree burglary.
