CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — Officials on eastern Long Island are opening a special court dedicated to legal problems affecting veterans.

Congressman Steve Israel and others were expected to attend the formal dedication of Veterans Treatment Court on Monday.

Officials say Veterans Court will assist veterans who have run afoul of the law and are dealing with a substance abuse or mental health disorder.

The court will be located in the county complex in Central Islip.
