If you’re going shopping in Southampton Village tomorrow, maybe you should take your own bags.
The board of trustees outlawed thin plastic bags last April, and the ban goes into effect tomorrow — making the tony Long Island town the first place in the state to prohibit the so-called T-shirt bags.
Village Administrator Stephen Funsch told Newsday that the law targets bags typically used in drugstores and groceries and that heavier-weight plastic bags are exempt.
Violators, he added, will face fines of up to $1,000.
