CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — A youth group leader at a Long Island church has been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl.
Juan Carlos Amaya was arraigned Monday. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape.
He is being held on $250,000 cash bail. He was represented by a Legal Aid attorney
Amaya was arrested on Sunday.

According to court papers, Amaya is being investigated for possible deportation to his native El Salvador.
Newsday says attempts to contact Amaya were unsuccessful.
