Lady Liberty will have fewer federal officers protecting her and her visitors when she reopens on July 4, The Post has learned.
Starting Friday, United States Park Police officers — who screen visitors bound for Liberty Island — will be furloughed to save cash.
“The cuts are going to be significant,” said Ian Glick, chairman of the United States Park Police Labor Committee. “It’s going to have a direct impact on safety.”
