Techno-klutzes can turn to the New York Public Library for help “borrowing” books on the high-tech e-readers they got for the holidays.

As the popularity of gizmos like Nooks, Kindles and iPads soars, harried librarians have found themselves under siege from hundreds of patrons seeking help with borrowing books on their new gadgets.

This year, the library is trying to get ahead of the curve by devoting a new Web site and a team of bookworms to help out.

“Apple has their genius bars, and this is kind of the same thing,” said Lauren Lampasone, digital producer at the library’s Reference and Research Services.

The new Web site, nypl.org/ebookcentral, offers detailed information on how to download the library’s digital material onto any major device.

In-person assistance can be found at the library’s flagship building in Bryant Park and the Mid-Manhattan Library, at Fifth Avenue and 40th Street.

Each book library patrons download works for three weeks.
