Now they can’t feather their nest!
A sparrow couple that had a cozy upper East Side home in a traffic light in Central Park has gotten a red light — the nest has vanished.
Yesterday, one of the birds perched where the nest used to sit — in a signal on the westbound road into Central Park at 72nd Street.
“It’s definitely been removed. It’s crazy,” said Dan Callister, a freelance photojournalist whose “before” photo at left helped illustrate the sparrows’ plight.
A spokesman for the Department of Transportation said, “DOT does have jurisdiction over traffic signals, but did not remove a bird’s nest from that location.’’
