A Long Island Rail Road train slammed into a car on the tracks near a Nassau County station Tuesday morning, suspending service and causing major delays for commuters at the height of the morning rush, officials said.

The train, traveling along the Ronkonkoma branch, plowed into the vehicle just east of the Bethpage station shortly after 7 a.m.

No injuries were reported.

It’s not clear why the car was on the tracks, and the incident is still under investigation.

Customers who use the Ronkonkoma branch are being encouraged to take other LIRR lines.
