Little Italy trash & burn
It was the kind of sausage-fest only a sewer rat could love.
Mulberry Street was piled so high yesterday with trash and street meat from the annual Festival of St. Anthony of Giovinazzo, residents and shopkeepers were complaining.
“San Gennaro has their own people, they do a good job cleaning up,” said Jay Hammer, a bartender at Spring Street Lounge. “But these guys, Jesus.”
Jerry Scivetti, whose society runs the church fund-raiser, countered, “We’ve been here for 65 years. These young yuppies can’t get used to it.”
