Livery worst for disabled
A city rule mandating that livery cabs provide equal service for riders who are disabled is a “complete failure,” a new report charges.
For companies that said they could pick up wheelchair-bound riders, livery cabs on average charged $37 more, and black cars charged $109 more than the usual fare, according to a study done by Assemblyman Micah Kellner.
“There’s been no enforcement,” Kellner said of the rule that went into effect in 2004.
