Lobbyists are hurting
Times are so tough that even the lobbyists are getting hit.
Figures compiled by the City Clerk’s Office show that income for the city’s 734 lobbyists reached $49.3 million last year, down from $53.7 million in 2009 and well below the $61 million peak achieved during the heady days of 2008.
As usual, leading the pack was Suri Kasirer, the perennial top lobbyist, who hauled in $4.2 million, accounting for 8.5 percent of the 2010 total.
