Intrepid sailors competed Saturday in a race of cardboard kayaks.
Participating kids and teens joined 15 teams that designed and built the boats just before the race. The festivities, sponsored by Con Ed, called attention to the city’s waterways.
Each team was given 10 sheets of corrugated cardboard and 13 rolls of tape, with two hours to build a seaworthy vessel.
