WANTAGH, NY — A 34-year-old Long Island man has been charged with operating a boat under the influence of alcohol.

Police say William Riedman of Freeport was arrested Wednesday evening. They say the US Coast Guard stopped him after receiving a report of an intoxicated boater in the vicinity of the West End Boat Basin in Wantagh.

Riedman’s 35-foot Bertram was towed to the Jones Beach Coast Guard station.

He was charged with operation of vessel while under the influence of alcohol. He was to be arraigned Thursday.

Information about his lawyer wasn’t immediately available.
