Long Island charities say they’re struggling to help the needy put a Thanksgiving meal on the table because of storm relief efforts.
Pastor Jim Ryan of the Lighthouse Mission in Suffolk County tells CBS New York that they’re praying for turkeys and chicken. He says they’re falling hundreds of birds short.
Randi Shubin Dresner says Island Harvest is facing a similar challenge.
Island Harvest usually gives out 10,000 to 12,000 turkeys each year. Dresner fears the group may not meet that goal.
