An electrical fire caused extensive damage to a church on Long Island.

The Valley Stream fire department says flames were shooting through the roof when firefighters arrived at the New Hope Lutheran Church around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Six local fire departments battled the blaze.

The church was unoccupied at the time. No injuries were reported.

Authorities say the fire was accidental.
