RONKONKOMA, N.Y. — Fire officials say a Long Island house fire has killed one woman and seriously injured another.

Suffolk County police say a 31-year-old woman was pronounced dead early Wednesday at the scene of the fire in Ronkonkoma.

They say the injured person was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Seven others escaped without injury

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but police said it does not appear to have been intentionally set.
