WILLISTON PARK, N.Y. — Police have arrested a Long Island woman and charged her with stabbing a 58-year-old man with a kitchen knife.

Police say 49-year-old Sharon Mongello stabbed the victim in the back Thursday afternoon in the Williston Park apartment they shared.

They say the victim suffered a punctured left lung and was listed in stable condition at an area hospital.

Police say Mongello was arrested shortly after the incident.

Police charged her with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. She was scheduled to be arraigned in a court in Hempstead on Friday.

There was no immediate information on whether she had obtained a lawyer.
