UnitedHealth CEO murder suspect Luigi Mangione faces five charges for the killing of Brian Thompson and is set to be extradited back to New York, police said Tuesday.
Mangione, 26, was charged with murder, three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of a forged instrument, a newly-released warrant filed in Manhattan Supreme Court says.
The charges were filed in New York City after Mangione was arrested Monday in Altoona, Pa., following a hectic, five-day manhunt.

The suspect is set to attend an extradition hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday as the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is requesting his return to New York.
During his arrest, police discovered a ghost gun with a silencer on him and other items that sources said were “consistent” with what police were seeking, including a rambling, handwritten manifesto railing against the healthcare industry that claimed “these parasites had it coming.”
He was also found to have multiple fake IDs, including one from New Jersey, believed to be the same one he used when checking into a Manhattan hostel before killing Thompson.
Mangione has yet to make any public statements following his arrest, with his family shocked by the revelation that he was the sought-after gunman.

“Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest,” the family said in a statement shared by his cousin Nino Mangione, a Republican Baltimore County delegate, late Monday.

Mangione’s mother had reported him missing Nov. 18, with the suspect becoming estranged from his friends and family leading up to the shooting, according to law enforcement sources.
