Maid will meet with DSK DA
The maid who cried sexual assault against Dominique Strauss-Kahn is expected to meet with Manhattan prosecutors today in a desperate bid to revive the case andprove she’s not a money-hungry opportunist, sources said.
Nafissatou Diallo will try to explain a recorded phone call between her and an Arizona inmate in which she reportedly told him, “Don’t worry, this guy has a lot of money,” the sources said.
Her lawyer claims the call, made a day after the May 14 alleged attack in DSK’s Sofitel suite, was mistranslated from a Guinean dialect.
The meeting comes as prosecutors pushed back DSK’s next court date by three weeks, to Aug. 23, while they consider dropping the criminal charges.
DSK’s lawyers, William Taylor and Benjamin Brafman, said, “We are confident that when the investigation is completed, [Manhattan DA Cyrus] Vance will move to dismiss all charges.”
Diallo revealed her identity this week in graphic interviews with Newsweek and ABC News.
In a segment aired yesterday, she brushed off the biggest inconsistency in her narrative as “a misunderstanding.”
She allegedly told a grand jury she cowered in fear after the attack, but prosecutors later revealed she cleaned a neighboring room and DSK’s suite.
“I opened there for a second to pick up my stuff. That room was already clean,” she told ABC. She claims she told that to the DA’s office, and “it was a misunderstanding.”
