Police in Maine and New York are investigating the disappearance of a 22-year-old mother believed to have advertised as an escort on Craigslist.

Police say 22-year-old Megan Waterman of Scarborough hasn’t been in contact with her family or friends since the weekend of June 5 when she was staying at a hotel in Hauppauge on Long Island.

Scarborough police say Waterman went to New York on Memorial Day weekend with her boyfriend, 20-year-old Akeem Cruz of Brooklyn, N.Y.

Waterman’s mother Lorraine Ela of South Portland tells the Portland Press Herald that Waterman and Cruz have been going to New York for a couple of weeks every two months or so, but that her daughter calls three times a day when she’s gone.
