A maintenance worker died Monday morning when he accidentally touched a live wire inside a Greenwich Village building, police said.

The 40-year-old man was working inside 36 Grove St. near Bleecker Street when he touched the wrong wire and was electrocuted, authorities said.

The victim, whose identity has not been released pending family notification, was rushed to Lenox Health Greenwich Village, where he was pronounced dead.
