TRENTON, NJ — A new poll finds a majority of New Jersey voters believe Gov. Chris Christie deserves a second term.

The Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday shows 56 percent of registered voters approve of the job Christie is doing and 52 percent think he deserves to be re-elected.

The Republican governor himself has not said whether he’ll seek a second term next year.

The poll also looked at possible Democratic challengers to Christie. The top prospect, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, trailed Christie by 4 points, while state Sen. Dick Codey came in second, 6 points behind.

The telephone survey of 1,405 registered voters was taken Oct. 10-14 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percentage points.
