Republican mayoral hopeful Nicole Malliotakis got into an embarrassing flap at the West Indian Day Parade on Monday when she tweeted about being presented with a Cuban flag — whole holding the flag of Puerto Rico.

The Staten Island assemblywoman posted an image (left) to the social-media site of herself holding the red, white and blue flag of the US territory — along with a caption that left her with huevo on her face.

“My friends present me with a Cuban flag at the New York West Indian #Caribbean Carnival Parade!” Malliotakis wrote.

The presumptive GOP nominee, who is half-Cuban, later noticed the error and deleted the tweet — but not before Melissa Mark-Viverito spotted it.

The council speaker, born in Puerto Rico, posted a screen grab of the scrubbed tweet along with one comment: a frown emoji.

Malliotakis spokesman Rob Ryan said the tweet was not posted by the candidate but by a campaign volunteer.

“While marching in the parade, Assemblywoman Malliotakis handed her phone to a supporter to take photos and send out tweets,” Ryan said.

“Photos were taken with both the Puerto Rican and Cuban flags, which are nearly identical except for the color of the stripes.”
