MAMARONECK — The woman accused of killing her 4-year-old son is going to court with a lawyer for the first time.

Manuela Maria Morgado of Mamaroneck is due in Village Court on Thursday for arraignment on a charge of second-degree murder.

She was arrested Monday after police found her with the body of her son, Jason Reish, in their condominium. No cause of death has been established but police are considering the possibility he was suffocated.

The boy was the object of a dispute related to custody. His parents live apart.

Morgado was brought to court Monday night and ordered to jail without bail. She did not have a lawyer then but has since hired an attorney.

The lawyer did not return a call Wednesday.
