The stars came out for the socialists.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani packed a posh Brooklyn venue with celebs Julia Roberts, Lili Taylor and other famous New Yorkers for fellow Democratic Socialist of America comrade and state Assemblywoman Claire Valdez over the weekend.
“Nothing says working class like Julia Roberts,” one operative quipped.

Nydia Velázquez, who is retiring after more than 30 years in office.
Valdez, a card carrying NYC DSA member and current assembly member, has touted herself a grassroots candidate with no corporate support.
Interview Magazine got the exclusive behind-the-scenes photos.

“I’m glad to see the limousine socialists truly resonating with working class New Yorkers by building a grassroots movement with millionaire celebrities who clearly understand the struggles of housing and putting food on the table,” a Democratic operative told The Post.
The race will prove to be a test of Mamdani’s political power with Valdez, the democratic socialist’s pick for the seat, running against Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso.
Velázquez handed picked Reynoso as her successor and even took at a shot at Mamdani for inserting himself in the race just after taking office.
