ROME, N.Y. — Authorities say a 42-year-old man has died after he was struck by a car while walking across a central New York road.

Oneida County sheriff’s deputies say Donald Thayer of Annsville was hit while walking across Route 69 in Rome around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

He was pronounced dead at Rome Memorial Hospital.

No tickets have been issued to the driver, but deputies say the investigation is continuing
