A 64-year-old man was killed and a firefighter hurt when a fire ripped through a Queens home early Friday, officials said.
The man was discovered inside the two-story private house on 46th Street near 39th Avenue in Sunnyside Gardens, where the first floor became engulfed in flames just before 3 a.m., according to the FDNY and NYPD.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his name was not immediately released.

A firefighter also suffered minor injuries battling the blaze, officials said. KYLE MAZZA/ShutterstockOne firefighter was also taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center with minor injuries, fire officials said.
A dozen FDNY units, including 60 fire and EMS personnel, responded to the blaze, which was extinguished just after 4 a.m.
The cause remains under investigation by the FDNY’s fire marshal, officials said.
