An elderly Brooklyn man was charged last night with fatally bludgeoning his 62-year-old wife during a violent argument.

Nazar Hussein was coughing up blood when cops arrived at her East 14th Street apartment in Midwood after her husband called 911 early yesterday. She died before she could be taken to a hospital.

Noor Hussein, 72, was charged with murder “based on statements he made to detectives,” a law-enforcement source said.

He allegedly struck her on the head with a blunt object. “I don’t know why,” said their distraught son, Gulzar, 40.

Neighbors heard arguing from the house earlier.

“He’s very short-tempered,” said one, Muhammad Khan. “He gets upset very easily.”

Another neighbor said the suspect, now retired, was once served an imam in Germany.
