A career criminal accused of strangling his girlfriend and then pushing her corpse down a Staten Island street on a dolly pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges on Sunday.

A prosecutor told a Staten Island Criminal Court judge of Anthony Lopez’s alleged attempt to discard the half-naked body of his longtime girlfriend, Aduba Obiamaka, on Friday.

“[The] defendant was spotted wheeling the victim in a cart covered with garbage in an attempt to conceal the body,” said ADA Brooke Baranoski.

Defense attorney Philip O. Ohene asked the court to bar detectives from taking statements from Lopez until giving him methadone to help him cope with drug withdrawal symptoms.

“He has not been given any methadone today. He is in distress,” Ohene said.

Lopez, who has 52 prior arrests, choked the woman after subjecting her to years of domestic abuse, prosecutors said.

Police arrested Lopez on Saturday and charged him with Obiamaka’s murder and with concealment of a human corpse.

Prior to his capture, Lopez admitted the crime in a phone call to his brother and was turned away from his aunt’s apartment in East Harlem when he tried to hide out there, authorities said.
