A 72-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were found shot dead in an apparent murder-suicide at their Upper West Side apartment Monday night, cops said.

The couple was found by their son at about 7 p.m. inside the basement apartment on West 87th Street near West End Avenue, according to police.

Investigators believe the man killed the woman, before turning the gun on himself, police sources said.

The two were declared dead at the scene by emergency responders.

Police said they recovered a weapon in the apartment.
