A woman walking home from a Queens bus stop was attacked by a man who threw her to the ground and tried to rape her before she fought him off, police said Thursday.
The 37-year-old victim was walking near Beach Ninth Street in Far Rockaway around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday when the man jumped out and grabbed her, throwing her to the ground, police said.
He pulled her underwear down and began to molest her, according to cops. He was about to rape her when the woman fought back, pushing her attacker off.
A passing car then startled him, and the would-be rapist fled on foot.
The woman was shaken but refused medical attention, officials said.
Police nabbed Kacy Brooks, 20, a few hours later in connection with the assault. He was charged with attempted rape, sexual misconduct, forcible touching and disorderly conduct.
Brooks has several prior arrests, including a robbery charge from January, although police say this is his first sex-crime offense.
