The man who allegedly pushed an elderly can collector to the ground and sexually assaulted her in the Bronx was arrested Tuesday, officials said.

Maximiliano Mejia, 26, was nabbed at his home on Richmond Plaza for the attempted rape of the 73-year-old woman around 4 a.m. on June 5, cops said.

The victim said she was on Reservoir Avenue walking toward West 195 Street in Fordham Manor, when a stranger came up from behind and pushed her to the ground. He then placed his hand over her mouth and sexually assaulted her.

During the struggle, she screamed and managed to mace him in the face, causing him to flee, cops said.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Detectives figured out who he was by reviewing surveillance video in the area of the crime, cops said.

He has been charged with attempted rape.
