A man suffered two broken legs when he was struck by a police car that swerved to avoid a child in the middle of a Brooklyn road, cops said Saturday.

The officers, who were responding to reports of a gunman at a nearby subway station, struck the 32-year-old man as they turned from New Lots Avenue into Jerome Street in East New York.

He was rushed to Brookdale Hospital and is expected to survive.

The two cops were treated for minor injuries at Kings County Hospital.

The report of a subway gunman was unfounded.
