A Queens man escaped with just minor burns Thanksgiving afternoon when his stove exploded as he lit the pilot, blowing a giant hole in the back of his house, fire officials said.
“One can assume this was related to his Thanksgiving dinner, but I can’t tell you for sure,” Battalion Chief Theodore Wienclaw said.
“We didn’t see any turkey remains in there.”
The injured man, whose name was not immediately released, was alone in the two-family detached home on 108th Street near 109th Avenue in Ozone Park, and suffered only minor burns to his head, face and hands, officials said.
“We saw that he had some burns on his face and his hands, but he was walking around, and it looks like he is going to be OK,” said a neighbor, Rocky Dihal.
