A 39-year-old man was busted after he attempted to rob one Upper East Side bank before robbing another within 15 minutes on Monday, cops said.

John Gregg entered a Citibank on Third Avenue near East 82nd Street around 11:30 a.m. and passed a note asking for money.

The teller did not comply and Gregg left empty-handed, according to police.

Fifteen minutes later, Gregg targeted a Ridgewood Savings Bank on Second Avenue near East 74th Street and passed a note saying, “No dye pack, no 50s, no 100s. Comply if nobody wants to get hurt.”

Gregg left that bank with $720, cops said.

Officer Luis Orbe, who was on patrol at 84th Street and 1st Avenue, said he heard the radio calls about the bank robberies. Around noon, he saw Gregg and noticed that he fit the robber’s description — about 6 feet tall and stocky with white sneakers and gray sweatpants — and stopped him for questioning. Both tellers arrived on scene and confirmed that Gregg was the suspect.

He was taken into custody and charged with two counts of robbery.

Gregg has 17 prior arrests, cops said. Back in 2010, he was busted after he and an accomplice allegedly enlisted unwitting cabbies as getaway drivers while they ripped off four Manhattan banks.
