A Texas man was arrested at La Guardia Airport Tuesday when a loaded handgun was discovered in his carry-on luggage, Port Authority police said.

Jeffrey Halaut, 52, had the Smith and Wesson .380 semi-automatic in his bag as he was attempting to pass through security inside Terminal D around 11 a.m.

A TSA agent found the gun and discovered it was holding six rounds.

Halaut, who lives in Wimberley, Texas, had been preparing to fly back home when he was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon.

Police said it’s not clear whether he traveled to New York with the gun.
