ALBANY — One of the two state workers convicted in connection with a drug-ridden “man cave” at a state-operated parking garage was sentenced to a year in the Albany County jail yesterday and ordered to pay a $2,076 fine.

Gary Pivoda, 48, was also blasted by Albany County Court Judge Stephen Herrick for bringing “contempt and ridicule” on what the judge insisted was “clearly an exemplary” state workforce.

Pivoda, of Latham, was a $29,600-a-year janitor until he and his supervisor, Louis Marciano, 50, of Rensselaer, were targeted last July 14 in a raid by state Inspector General Joseph Fisch.

That led to accusations that they had used a hideaway to sleep, watch television and use marijuana and cocaine, all on state time.
