A man charged last year with slashing the face of a stranger on an East Village street sent a letter to the presiding judge admitting to the crime and asking for a sentencing deal, it was revealed in court Tuesday.

Francis Salud, 29, has pleaded not guilty to the January 2016 attack on Anthony Christopher Smith that left the victim needing 150 stitches to close the wound.

At the time, Salud was out on bail after allegedly cutting another man in a dispute over cigarettes. Justice Jill Konviser said she had received a letter from the defendant “admitting his guilt.”

She offered him 14 years in prison for both cases, but he asked Tuesday in court for only 10.

“Fourteen years is my offer. It is not going lower,” she said, and then gave him another two weeks to mull over the deal.
