NEW CITY, N.Y. — A man in custody in New Jersey has been charged with molesting a 7-year-old girl in a movie theater bathroom in New York.

Sgt. Harry Baumann of the Clarkstown, N.Y., police says 36-year-old Elio Pintado, of Summit, N.J., has been charged with sex abuse, endangering a child and unlawful imprisonment.

The girl had reported that she was accosted Jan. 1 by a man in the women’s bathroom at the Palisades Center movie theater in West Nyack.

Baumann said two women noticed that the man shown on theater surveillance video looked like a man wanted in Union County, N.J., for allegedly trying to lure a child into a car.

Clarkstown police found that Pintado had already been arrested in New Jersey. Baumann said search warrants led to evidence and the charges.
