It wasn’t working out.
A man claims he was canned from a downtown pilates studio because he questioned why he earned less than a female colleague.
Frankie Carattini was making $70,000 a year as a studio director and “director of community rapport” for New York Pilates when he chatted up the coworker last fall and discovered she brought home a bigger check than he did for “substantially equal (or lesser) work,” according to a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit he filed against the company.
Carattini, who worked at the chain’s Soho location, asked a manager why he was being paid less.
“It’s not really appropriate for people to be discussing salaries,” the boss sniffed, he claims in court papers.
After that, he was abruptly fired, he charges. Carattini is seeking unspecified damages.
The company denied wrongdoing.
