Nick don’t like white men, a lawsuit alleges.
That’s the claim from a white Manhattan freelance writer who says he got canned from a Nickelodeon channel subsidiary because of his race and sex.
Robert Carducci says he lost his $750-a-day gig creating on-air and digital ad campaigns for Nickelodeon Velocity after being told “we have too many white guys” on the payroll, according to a lawsuit filed June 24 in Manhattan Supreme Court.
Carducci is seeking unspecified damages from Viacom International, Nickelodeon’s owner; Viacom declined to comment.
Carducci alleges he had been praised for his work, but was dropped in March. A boss confirmed to him that “his contract was not being renewed because [Carducci] is a white male,” according to court documents.
The supervisor later noted Nickelodeon was on a “year-long mission to make sure the staff is diverse.”
