A Brooklyn jury on Tuesday convicted a man who kidnapped his girlfriend and her 2-year-old daughter, and brutally tortured them in a basement for five months.
Yohannes Anglin, 36, was found guilty on two counts each of kidnapping, assault and reckless endangerment and faces up to 50 years for the crimes in 2012.
Anglin locked the then-27-year-old woman and her daughter up inside an East New York basement, binding them with tape at their hands and feet and threatening to kill them if they tried to escape.
Anglin’s attorney, Harold Baker, said he plans to appeal.
