A Brooklyn man was left clinging to life early this morning after a hit-and-run driver mowed him down as he crossed a Williamsburg street.

Neil Chamberlain, 28, a freelance Web designer, was struck shortly before 4 a.m. on Calyer Street between McGuinness Boulevard and Newel Street, police said.

Chamberlain, a native of Lexington, Mass., is a model tenant, said his landlord at his Graham Street building.

“He works. He comes home. He’s a very good person,” said the landlord, Heidi Tahiraj. “I always say to my realtor, ‘Find me people like Neil.’”

Police did not have a description of the car, which was traveling eastbound on Calyer.

Chamberlain was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
