A 30-year-old man was shot dead in The Bronx early Saturday when violence erupted at a drug- and booze-fueled party, police said.

Romel Johnson took a fatal bullet to the torso during the party at 1312 Clay Ave. in Claremont Village at around 6:45 a.m., police sources and witnesses said.

Emergency responders rushed Johnson to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, but doctors could not save him.

“There was a party on Clay — lots of drinking and smoking weed, sniffing coke,” said one neighbor.

Some partygoers got into a fight, the neighbor said. “It was over a girl. A guy was dancing with a girl and her man got jealous and they started fighting. Coke, weed and Hennessy — that’s a dangerous combination. That’s why Mel got killed,” he said.

Tyree Riggins, 30, was heading home from his chef’s shift and stopped at a grilled chicken stand across the street minutes before Johnson was shot.

“There were like 10 people out there by the grill, guys and girls just cooling out. It was good vibes,” he said.

People suddenly began screaming and streamed out of the Clay Avenue house.

“It was like roaches when you cut the lights on,” he said.

One woman ran outside yelling, “They killed my brother,” he said.
