A man is dead after jumping from the Manhattan Bridge on Sunday afternoon, officials said.
The unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s, was seen floating in the East River near Furman Street and Old Fulton Street in the DUMBO section around 1 p.m. about 10 minutes after he plunged into the river, police and officials said.
Four police boats rushed to the Old Fulton Street pier, where the man was pulled from the water and given CPR, said a water-taxi employee who asked not to be named.
Emergency personnel covered the man with a blanket and placed an oxygen mask on his face before an ambulance rushed him to Brooklyn Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, authorities said.
“He didn’t look good,” said witness Alexander Bolton, 52. “He looked like he had it. They were working like crazy on him.”
