A man and his two dogs were shot and the house they were staying in set on fire on Long Island Tuesday, cops said.

The victim — a friend of the homeowners who had been house-sitting for them — was shot there around 5 p.m, according to the Suffolk County Police department.

The suspect set the house ablaze and fled the scene.

The man was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital and is expected to survive.

One of the dogs died from its wounds. The other canine was taken to an animal shelter.
